The Future Talent Program features internships that last up to 12 weeks and will include one or more projects. These opportunities in our Research & Development Division can provide you with great development and a chance to see if we are the right company for your long-term goals.

Our Medical Affairs team is currently recruiting a summer intern within Infectious Diseases and Vaccines. This is an exciting opportunity for a self-driven and ambitious candidate to work with a group of medical affairs professionals engaged in medical and scientific strategy development for pneumococcal vaccines. The pneumococcal vaccines program includes both licensed and pipeline vaccines, providing an opportunity to gain a broad understanding of scientific strategy development for vaccine programs. During the internship period, the candidate will play a key role in the following activities: scientific literature search & review, development & review of medical education materials, participation in key scientific input meetings with subject area scientific leaders, congress planning and execution; and participation in cross functional team meetings and collaborations relevant to pneumococcal vaccines. Under the guidance of the medical affairs team, the candidate will also develop and complete a specific project over the course of the internship.

Self-study materials will be provided for understanding of the therapeutic area during orientation. Knowledge of Microsoft office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is required. This position would best suit someone with a background and interest in biomedical science, bacteriology, vaccinology, microbiology, biology, epidemiology and/or immunology.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Candidates must be currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in the sciences or another area of study that would align with the background required for this type of internship (i.e. bachelor’s degree in the humanities with a pre-medical focus).

  • Candidates must be returning to school in the Fall of 2023

  • Candidates must be available to work full-time for 12 weeks beginning on 5JUN 2023.

  • Candidates must have experience searching and interpreting peer-reviewed scientific literature in support of research projects, the ability to categorize information resources according to therapeutic areas, phases of research, and business goals

  • Candidates must have a basic understanding of the biomedical sciences, biology, epidemiology and immunology

  • Candidates must have excellent written communication skills

  • Candidates must have excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Candidates should be an excellent team player who is able to readily take on responsibilities and work independently

Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • Candidates should have experience publishing professional or educational documentation on the web, using a content-management platform such as SharePoint

  • Candidates should have knowledge of the Pharmaceutical industry.
