Job Description

The Scientific Leadership Research Manager position is a core function within the Global Center for Scientific Affairs to advance human health through facilitation of scientific exchange and engagement with the external scientific community, peer-reviewed scientific publications, and support of investigator-initiated studies. The Scientific Leadership Research Manager must possess strong project management skills and can lead without direct authority over a continuum of stakeholders to ensure that the practice of meaningful and collaborative scientific exchange, through engagement activities, is achieved to globally impact the scientific strategy for a therapeutic area. Additionally, optimal oversight of the operations of the Investigator Initiated Studies Program is pivotal to ensuring that the research submitted to our organization by investigators is compliantly and efficiently managed.

The Scientific Leadership Research Manager is a project manager for the Investigator Initiated Studies Program and Scientific Engagement activity at key Scientific Congresses for the Therapeutic Area. These key functions contribute to the development and refinement of our Scientific and Medical Affairs Strategic Plan for our research laboratories. The Investigator Initiated Studies Program serves a critical function to advance science and improve patient care collaboratively with capable, qualified investigators, further enhancing our reputation and advancing our scientific leadership goals globally. The Scientific Leadership Research Manager problem solves and makes empowered decisions that affect a wide range of cross-divisional stakeholders and influences decisions that impact the Scientific Medical and Research teams. Leadership, resilience and collaborative skills are required for the Scientific Leadership Research Manager position. Many decisions are contingent upon and guided by emerging needs that require cross-divisional coordination.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Co-leads with the Investigator Initiated Studies Program Chair (Global Director of Scientific Affairs) and supports the committee with the review, decision and operational management of research proposals.

  • Co-leads the Scientific Medical and Research Team with the Global Director of Scientific Affairs and responsible for the development and updates to the Scientific Affairs on the Scientific Medical and Research Team Plan.

  • Planning manager with the Global Director of Scientific Affair for all the disease area Congress Meeting activities.

Education Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • 5 Years of Pharmaceutical or Healthcare related experience in internal or external scientific research operations.

  • Research database proficiency.

  • Exceptional project management skills.

  • Executive level meeting management experience.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Sigma or Project management certification.
