The Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR), the innovation engine of Novartis, is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Principal Scientist to lead an in vivo biology team within NIBR La Jolla’s Regenerative Medicine research group. We are dedicated to innovating the next generation of regenerative and engineered cell therapies.<br><br>As a leader of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team, you will lead the design and execution of in vivo and ex vivo studies enabling the validation and development of innovative therapeutic platforms for regenerative medicine, genome editing technology, and novel modes of delivery. This exciting role will interface with experts throughout the company in regenerative biology, protein engineering, gene therapy, and translational medicine. Focus areas will include, but are not limited to, respiratory diseases and hematology, but will expand to additional fields of biology.<br><br>Your responsibilities:<br><br>• You will assume a leadership role in the development of novel therapeutic concepts and will contribute at all stages of a project, from inception, validation, candidate selection and through to early clinical development of novel therapies<br>• A primary focus will be on preclinical validation of mechanisms of tissue regeneration. This may include testing of cell-based and genome-editing approaches<br>• Utilization of xenografts and engineered cell therapies<br>• Evaluation of PK/PD relationships for novel siRNA and viral delivery modalities <br>• You will work closely with complementary subject matter experts to develop project strategy, identify key drug discovery issues, propose and implement creative solutions, and guide teams to critical decision points.<br>• You will manage a team of associates with relevant, diverse expertise, as well as interact with peer teams<br><br>[#video#https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXumFqhsHG8{#400,300#}#/video#]
