The successful candidate will work closely with scientists in the Department and with colleagues in Chemistry, Quantitative Biosciences, Genetics and Pharmacogenomics and Disease Area Biology.

He or she will be a key contributor to our chemical biology proteomics efforts to characterize protein-protein, protein-ligand interactions and proteome-wide drug effects to elucidate drug-target mechanism of action, reveal on-target engagement/off-target selectivity, and to deconvolute biological target functions from chemical and genetic screens.

He or she will develop, implement and execute mass spectrometry- based quantitative proteomics experiments with optimal biological sample preparation protocols, process, analyze and interpret data using public and commercially available and/or in-house developed software packages.

The ideal candidate must be proactive, able to interpret complex proteomics data through integrating information from genetics, cellular pharmacology, chemistry and molecular biology, communicate and collaborate effectively with various project teams across scientific disciplines and functions to contribute to iterative experimental design and mechanistic hypotheses generation and testing.

The candidate is expected to regularly present internal updates and to contribute to our Research Division's publication strategy in high level peer-reviewed journals and international conferences. We look for people who are inspired by our mission and who would fit in well with the collaborative, rigorous and entrepreneurial spirit of the company culture.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Deep expertise in mass spectrometry-based quantitative discovery proteomics workflows and associated proteomic data processing/analysis. This includes various labeling techniques, data acquisition methods and processing software packages. Experience in targeted proteomics assays is a plus

  • Multi-year, hands on experience with nLC systems and high-performance mass spectrometers; Hands-on experience in workflow automation using liquid handling robots (e.g. Hamilton or Agilent systems) is a plus

  • Hands-on experience in cell culture and biological sample preparation for proteomics or chemo proteomics applications; Experience in innovative cell culture techniques (3D culture, organoids, co-culture systems, etc.) and genetic manipulation of cells (e.g., siRNA, CRISPR, protein overexpression, etc.) is a plus

  • Experience with analysis and visualization of “big data” and a sound understanding of statistical concepts; Proficiency in statistical programming languages such as R or Python is a plus

  • Hands-on experience with methods related to protein homeostasis and/or application of biorthogonal chemistry, photochemistry and affinity pull-downs for target identification and validation is a plus

  • Highly self-motivated, creative and critical thinking to solve complex technical and scientific problems with excellent attention to detail, and strong organizational and communication (oral and written) skills; Strong publication record

  • Ability to work independently yet team-oriented and able to build strong relationships in highly collaborative, multidisciplinary teams to effectively drive early drug discovery initiatives
