  • Customer: create analytics to improve customer satisfaction along the customer journey for a lifetime as they move-in to a residence, pay their bill and move to new residences.
  • Transmission & Distribution: develop algorithms to detect asset failures, reduce outages and provide reliable electricity to customers.
  • Smart Meter: provide customers with the electric usage they need to make smart decisions about their home as well as reduce threats and theft in the electric system.

What you’ll do:

As a Cloud Architect at FirstEnergy you will oversee the technical implementation of our enterprise wide cloud deployment and migration strategy for our digitally enabled environment. This is a hands-on role crafting the cloud usage patterns for the entire organization with a strong focus on microservices, containers, immutable infrastructure and migrating existing workloads to cloud. Furthermore,

    • You will execute the strategic roadmap for cloud architecture and lead the culture for cloud adoption
    • You will define technology patterns within the cloud infrastructure as well as develop and maintain governance processes, procedures, and policies within cloud infrastructure
    • You will ensure technology implementations in the cloud architecture are in line with global standards and market leaders
    • You will provide Subject Matter Expertise on cloud technology for Cloud Engineers
    • You will work closely with the Enterprise Architecture team to make sure usage is integrated and optimized across private cloud, on-premise and public cloud
    • You will regularly evaluate cloud infrastructure, applications, and software
    • You will work closely with IT security to monitor and refine FirstEnergy’s security framework

What You Will Need to be Qualified:

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science or another related field with 7 years related experience. In lieu of a degree, you have 9 years of related experience.
    • Your related experience should include in depth knowledge of: Agile/Scrum methodologies, Azure, Cloud Migrations, and Infrastructure as Code
  • You have at least 3 years of experience in a Cloud Architecture lead role
  • You have extensive experience working in an Azure environment (AWS and GCP are a nice to have)
  • You have experience in Agile/Scrum methodologies using Azure DevOps and PowerShell.
  • You have delivered large scale enterprise cloud migration initiatives end to end
  • You have active coach and mentor experience with goals to grow and maximize your team’s potential
  • You have proven expertise in infrastructure as code (e.g., ARM, DevOps, GitLab, Terraform, Puppet, Ansible, Chef, Chocolatey, VMware vRA toolsets)
  • You have strong communication skills with the ability to align the organization on complex technical decisions
  • You are willing to travel throughout the organization and service territory and work extended hours, as required
