About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [SC00]

The ability to work remotely within the United States may be available based on business need. This option is not available in the states of California, Colorado, Illinois, Kentucky, New York, Oregon or Washington at this time.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Work across multiple technology domains to drive common processes and alignment to both the current and future needs of the entire organization through regular evaluation of major technology platforms to determine viability
  • Make sure that a company's business strategy uses proper technology systems architecture to achieve its goals.
  • Work with domain architects to leverage roadmaps, models, and research to manage the growth and adoption of technology
  • Maintain a technology inventory and monitor technology acquisitions to minimize duplicity.
  • Assist solution architects with ideas for solving business pain points
  • Analyze current trends in technology architecture and educate others in the Information technology department about new frameworks and best practices.
  • Support vendor product evaluations as requested to ensure alignment with current technology standards and practices.
  • Provide support and administration of the Architecture Design Review (ADR) process.
  • Provide support and administration of the Application Development Methodology (ADM) process and deliverables.
  • Review of Application Service Provider questionnaires as requested to provide early identification of technical risks and issues.
  • Provide market/vendor research for technology solutions when requested.
  • Develop technology strategies and product roadmaps as requested by IT management.

An employee hired at the Architect Level IV will be expected to perform all the above responsibilities with more proficiency, and in a more independent manner. Further, the Architect Level IV level employee will be assigned additional responsibilities related to those listed above.

Qualifications at the Level III include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer/Management Information Systems, a related degree with 7+ years related experience required. In lieu of a degree, 9 years related experience required.
  • Related experience includes, but is not limited to:
    • A high degree of proficiency in designing and developing complex software solutions
    • You have 2+ years in an architecture role designing technology architectures, detailed workflows, best practices, and governance guidelines. This includes experience developing and evaluating RFP’s and vendor solutions.
  • Possess broad understanding of technology that enables you to develop a holistic view of IT strategy and assets
  • Must be skilled in both oral and written communications to contribute to articulate recommendations.
  • Strong facilitation skills
  • Willingness to undertake assignments involving unfamiliar subjects and possesses an aptitude to learn quickly.
  • Experience building enterprise architecture frameworks based on the strategic vision of a company
  • Proven team player, contributes to team goals, encourages, and supports team members.

Qualifications at the Level IV include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer/Management Information Systems, a related degree with 10+ years related experience required. In lieu of a degree, 12 years related experience required.
  • Related experience includes, but is not limited to:
    • A high degree of proficiency in designing and developing complex software solutions
    • You have 2+ years in an architecture role designing technology architectures, detailed workflows, best practices, and governance guidelines. This includes experience developing and evaluating RFP’s and vendor solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Solid understanding of public cloud infrastructures, particularly Azure.
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft 365 applications and technologies.
  • Background in application development methodologies, including agile
  • Background in business intelligence and data management technologies
  • Background in integration strategies and technologies
  • Background Cyber Security best practices
  • Understanding of the Energy Utility vertical
