Job Description

We work in the manufacturing plants with a “Safety First, Quality Always” mindset striving for continuous improvement. We provide technical leadership for design, sourcing, and operational support projects related to Single Use Systems.

Large Molecule Science & Technology in our Manufacturing Division is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill an open position as lead of the Single Use Systems CoE to support strategic projects and critical site and global initiatives related to Single Use Systems used in our Manufacturing and Research Divisions. The Single Use Systems COE provides technical leadership for the design, sourcing, and operational support projects involving single-use technologies. Our team strives to not only provide technical excellence to our work but to also be strong partners, collaborators, and leaders within the manufacturing division at our Company as well as externally to guide, identify, and incorporate new and innovative approaches. The group works cooperatively with Operations, Quality, Supplier Development & Performance Management, Planning, Procurement, Supply Chain, Regulatory, External Manufacturing and our Research & Development Division to provide technical expertise as well as lead strategic initiatives focused on mitigating risks associated with the supply of Single Use Systems used in manufacturing to ensure uninterrupted & unconstrained supply for current and future products. Responsibilities contain technical, regulatory, and business strategy elements. We are increasing emphasis on standardization, safety, right first time, and environmental sustainability.

In this role, responsibilities include the following:

  • Manage and develop a group of highly skilled technical individuals while driving scientific excellence in a highly regulated environment.

  • Creation, management and deployment of associated tools and best practices, stewardship, and continuous improvement of business processes for management and technical oversight of single use systems.

  • Project Leadership and Project Execution for both strategic and supply initiatives for critical materials used in production requiring partnership and cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing sites and stakeholders across the organization.

  • Utilizing sound scientific and engineering principles for problem solving and implementation of solutions.

  • Interacting and collaborating with suppliers and Global Procurement to improve the quality and supply of single use systems as well as implementation of new and alternate materials and/or supply chains.

  • Participate with External Organizations and Consortiums as a Subject Matter Expert in Single Use Systems to influence industry standards as well as provide bench marking and awareness of industry trends.

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • B.S. in Chemical/Bio-Chemical Engineering or Biological/Chemistry Sciences or related disciplines.

  • Minimum eight (8) years’ experience in biological or pharmaceutical industries.

  • Minimum six (6) years of experience in project leadership and supervisory experience.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Ability to build strong collaborative relationships with internal partners and sites as well as with external partners.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop innovative solutions for complex problems and business processes.

  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills with ability to influence peers.

  • Ability to travel up to 20% depending on site needs or vendor support required.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Experience in Vaccine or Biologic Manufacturing or Development.

  • Knowledge of Single Use Systems and impact on process.

  • Experience in plastics processing or plastic part design.

  • Knowledge of System/Equipment Engineering.

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements about Single Use Systems used in Bio-Pharmaceutical manufacturing.

  • Experience with Change Control Execution and Management.

  • People management and/or mentoring experience.
